Awareness and the Second Coming of Christ

April 27, 2008 / by whereabouts

I have not provided any original "whereabouts" content in quite awhile but I have been meaning to and wanting, itching to.

Below is my response to a forum poster (whom I respect, whom has tremendous insights and opinions to share).

Since so much of my time has been spent reading and researching depleting my brain resources from the drive and desire to actually write something original, I've only been posting news articles in an effort to spread "awareness".

Below is an effort to contribute to original content even though it was not intended for my blog audience.

Enjoy!

Amalie wrote: " It's pretty obvious to me that all the folks here, and everyone we can all reach, would "revolt" if there were a nonviolent way to do that, and our government structures were set up for just that purpose."

There is a non-violent way to revolt; it's called stepping up to the plate and taking action, getting involved simply by educating oneself about what really transpires and takes place around each and every one of us every second of every day.

Apathy is what has lead this nation to the depths in the pits we are currently floating in.

Awareness takes time. TTT - things take time and timing is everything. Introduce something before it's time and it will fail, especially a concept, pattern, or perspective.

When I was 20 years old, I lived with my then fiance who was a TV fanatic. I hated it. I was always drawn to political issues, educational issues and topics. Ultimately, we parted ways.

Upon my independence, when I was about 21 years old, I stopped watching television all together because of what I perceived as being a mind numbing and dumbing object based on the content that was provided at the time though I recognized it's value as a very useful tool to promote good, intelligence, etc., and had dreams of such for the future.

That was in 1988. Aside from the weather channel and the Chicago Bears, I did not watch anything on television and did not go to the movie theater with exception to view Disney movies and Power Rangers for my young son. My son grew up without the influences of prime-time television. At an early age, I only turned on PBS (Barney, etc.) and Nickelodeon for him. When he was old enough to make his own choices, he watched the same programs plus anything sports but spent most of his time in actual physical and mental activities. There was a very distinct and obvious difference to his perceived view of the world and surroundings than to those of his friends who grew up consumed with the boob tube.

I came in contact with prime-time television again while in a nail salon getting my nails done about mid 2000 when I asked what show it was that was on. By the look I received from every individual in the salon (they all turned and stared at me in disbelief), you would have thought I was an alien with a big gray head! Apparently, "Friends" was the show and I was a freak for not knowing that or recognizing it.

My point is that my awakening came LONG after my disconnect with a primary influence in many people's lives that takes many away from independent thought -- television.

Further, my awakening did not come until "after" I divorced, "after" I resigned from my high profile six figure income position, "after" disconnecting from certain political influences, "after" I shed myself of the negative influences affecting my life that were litterally brainwashing me and programming my thoughts.

Only until disengaging from those powerful influences did I learn, that independently I did not agree with much of anything that went on around me.

I was very involved.

I worked with the schools districts. I was a founding father of the Village I resided in. I was well regarding in the local political area. I was well know in my field of work and well recognized and regarded. I was very, very involved in many aspects of my political community which included township, village, and county, as well as interaction with State Reps, Congresspersons, and Senators due to the powerful local and county persons and positions.

The disconnect and the detachment led to the awakening along with prior first hand experience of working directly inside all that is going on, all that most everyone of you are revolting against.

I look at my parents, and hear their philosophy and perspective, and I cringe with embarrassment because I once thought like that!

I no longer think that way because I did detached and then set out to explore and learn on my own for myself. I have the power of the internet to thank for that learning experience and I am so grateful for the resources available.

I also have the benefit of experience on both sides of the spectrum and I believe that to be invaluable in helping to promote "awareness".

Most individuals do not have the desire to give up so much of their existence to learn what I have learned in the manner that I have learned it.

Most individuals are not willing to sacrifice those amounts of money and pleasure in trade for intellect, knowledge, compassion, understanding, and doing what is right by holding to your convictions... all for the betterment of everyone else.

Most, simply, are too selfish.

In order to promote our good causes (what we all believe here), we must first teach and encourage "awareness" in others and teach and encourage others to understand how that awareness is in the best interest of mankind as a whole.

We must encourage others to understand and know that we are ALL connected; we are ALL in this together and whatever we do to another, we essentially do to ourselves. Chief Seath's (Seattle's) Testimony comes to mind here, (below are portions of it):

"We are part of the earth and it is part of us. The perfumed flowers are our sisters; the deer, the horse, the great eagle, these are our brothers. The rocky crests, the juices in the meadows, the body heat of the pony, and man - all belong to the same family. ...
So, when the Great Chief in Washington sends word that he wishes to buy our land, he asks much of us.
... We will consider your offer to buy our land. If we decide to accept, I will make one condition: the white man must treat the beasts of this land as his brothers. ... What is man without the beasts? If the beasts were gone, men would die from a great loneliness of spirit. For whatever happens to the beasts, soon happens to man. All things are connected. ...
Teach your children what we have taught our children -- that the earth is our mother. Whatever befalls the earth befalls the sons of the earth. If men spit upon the ground, they spit upon themselves. ... Whatever befalls the earth befalls the sons of the earth. Man did not weave the web of life, he is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself.
"

I continuously watch people forever attempting to control "effects" rather than understanding the cause thereby wasting, wasting, wasting time, effort, energy, money, all else. With all causes, there are inevitable effects as dictated by the course of nature. Effects are the results of the action (cause) which is a result of the thoughts (intention). You can eliminate an effect by altering the cause or removing the cause entirely but you cannot control the effect; you cannot control nature.

Man cannot stop the rotation of the earth no more than man can control the solar cycles which is the single greatest factor contributing to global warming. Yet, we continue to attempt to "control" what we have no ability to control because we are an audacious group of foolish minded teenage like and young adult like folks who think we are all mighty and powerful. Similar to the way so many misunderstanding parents attempt to live through their children by way of controlling their activities, we attempt to live through means of control merely on another level but it is ultimately the same psychological output.

That does not mean we should not be conscious of our environment and what we put into the air we breath, because we must always care for our dear mother earth. We must always respect her and treat her kindly but we must also know, as any good mother, she is giving, forgiving, flexible, and acceptable. She can tolerate us a million times more than we can ever tolerate her should she decide to bring swift and rapid change upon us. We must respect her but understand that she is the powerhouse, not us. As long as we are conscious about what we do, and conservative in our usage of the resources she provides us, and, most importantly, we are not "greedy" and do not hoard those resources to ourselves while depriving so many others of their benefits... as long as we are mindful, she will take care of us, like any good mother.

For people to move towards awareness, they must first understand the basic principal that the only thing one can control is themselves. Outside of that, everything is simply an experience to be had, to watch, monitor and learn from.

If mankind as a whole understood their inability to "control" what is beyond their means to control, we would have enormous amounts of time, money, and energy working on what we can positively affect, on what is real and obtainable. Think of what great achievements could be made by simply and collectively redirecting our focus to where it belongs, on what can be changed, not what cannot be changed because it is out of our control.

We have the ability to fight evil simply by doing it.

As to Jesus, Amalie (pretty name, btw), I do believe that you misunderstood my reference to the use of the name "Jesus", for it is my understanding and belief (based upon my own, independent thought and analysis) that while there may very well have been an actual living breathing and walking Jesus as spoke of in the New Testament, in my own opinion and belief, "The 2nd coming of Christ" that is preached and believed, is not an actual coming of a person, entity or being to "save" the peoples; it is merely and simply a universal "awareness" which comes to light in the hearts, minds, and spirits of the masses which ultimately leads to the conquering of evil. Collectively and united at peace, we will all become Jesus together.

Namaste.

God promotes free will and greatly encourages independent thought.  Freedom is peace, restriction is bondage.
