I took the picture below late this afternoon during one of mine and Reilly's walks. Isn't it a beautiful tree? This is one of my two Crabapple Trees. I love these trees though they are very, very high maintenance. This year, both of my crabs are in need of severe pruning and branch trimming. Crabs are weedy trees so there is a constant need for attention to keep them under control. If you do not keep them clean and remove sucker growth, which is extensive on weedy trees such as the crabapple, it will eventually "suck" the life out of the tree and the tree will perish. Suckers on Crabs grow not only in the ground but also on each and every branch. I've kept my tree clean as far as I can reach but as you can see, that is not too high up off the ground (I'm only 5'1").
Anyway, homerglenexperiment not too long ago asked about trees and I gave him an estimate on the size of the crown of Crabapples for I felt it was not a good tree for the corner of a house, and in the picture I just took (below), you can see why. The crab is currently developing it's fruit so it is heavy and weighed down. I will perk up as the branches and newer growth begin to harden. None-the-less, it still requires extensive pruning and I have my work cut out for me!

The tree also grew on angle towards the house. I don't know why the previous owners did not remove the tree. The tree was planted too close to the house and was never cared for properly.
I need to find a replacement!!!
