Fire engulfs Lockport hotel, Metra service suspended

An five-alarm
fire at a Downtown Lockport hotel in has caused the temporarily suspension of
all inbound trains on Metra's Heritage Corridor line.
At 3:57 a.m., firefighters responded to a blaze at a three-story hotel with a bar on the first floor at in the 900 block of South State Street, according to a Lockport Township Fire Protection District lieutenant.
Dreams Restaurant & Bar and the Towpath Inn is located at the state street address.
Metra spokesman Tom Miller said the Lockport Township Fire Protection District requested that Metra not run trains on the Heritage Corridor line because of a fire near the Lockport station. As a result, all inbound service has been temporarily suspended.
Passengers are asked to seek alternate transportation, according to Metra’s Web site.
